30-yard dumpster rental in Fairwood, Bowie MD.
22 ft × 8 ft × 6 ft · holds about 14 pickup-truck loads. Serving Fairwood — Mid-2000s master-planned upscale homes and townhomes.
When a Fairwood project is big enough that a smaller bin would just mean a second haul, the 30-yard roll-off is the box you want staged on the driveway. It is one of the largest containers we run, and around here it earns the nickname the “commercial and demo” size — the one built for full tear-outs, contractor site debris, bulk waste, and multi-family cleanouts in a single drop and a single pickup. JP Roll-Off Service is a family-owned hauler, and Fairwood — the master-planned community in Bowie’s 20716 ZIP, built on the old Fairview turf farm and woods that The Rouse Company developed in the mid-2000s — is an easy run via Route 197 or the BW Parkway. That puts it well inside our regular morning run — most addresses here are scheduled within 24 hours, and an early call may still make a same-day run.
What the 30-yard holds
The 30-yard measures roughly 22 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 6 feet tall. That long, tall box swallows about 14 pickup-truck loads of material, which is why it is the go-to for jobs that throw off a steady wall of debris rather than a few bags. Pricing on the 30-yard is per material — call for a quote. It includes delivery, pickup, and a 14-day rental; additional days are available on request when you book. Heavy material such as concrete, dirt, brick and shingles is quoted separately because weight matters, and pickup is on request, so call to schedule it when you are ready.
One honest word on weight. The 30-yard’s volume fills up fastest with bulky, lighter material — framing lumber, drywall, old cabinetry, finished-basement build-out, furniture, and general construction debris. If your load leans heavy with concrete, brick, dirt, or tile, the cube fills slowly but the weight climbs fast — heavy debris like that is quoted separately because weight matters — and a smaller bin or a dedicated heavy-debris container is usually the smarter call. When you phone in, tell us what is going in and we will steer you to the right size before the truck rolls.
Why Fairwood jobs reach this size
Fairwood is one of Bowie’s newer neighborhoods. Where the older Levitt-era sections of town date to the 1960s, nearly every Fairwood home was built between roughly 2004 and 2010 by builders like NVHomes, Ryan Homes, and Mid-Atlantic Builders. The single-family houses are contemporary and Colonial Revival in style — commonly red brick and vinyl, on about quarter-acre lots, with gourmet kitchens, decks, and full walk-out or standard basements. That building stock is what drives the work the 30-yard was made for:
- Full demolition. Gutting a Fairwood home to the studs — pulling the original gourmet kitchen, taking out interior walls, or tearing a whole basement back to bare concrete — produces far more debris than most owners expect. The 30-yard keeps a demo crew moving without stopping to swap containers mid-job.
- Commercial site work. Contractor tear-outs and build-outs throw off a continuous stream of fixtures, flooring, ceiling material, and packaging. One large box keeps the dumpster off the critical path.
- Bulk waste hauls. Whole-house clear-outs, estate and downsizing cleanouts, and the contents of a full basement pile up fast. About 14 truck-loads of capacity means you load once and we haul once.
- Multi-family cleanouts. Turning over several townhomes at once — Fairwood carries substantial townhome stock in the Retreat at Fairwood and Fairwood Sanctuary, some over 3,400 square feet — and clearing old appliances, carpet, and tenant debris together is exactly the volume the 30-yard handles.
The standout driver here is the basement. Almost every Fairwood single-family home has a full basement, and finishing or re-finishing one — drywall, flooring, old carpet, framing, an outdated wet bar — throws off a remarkable amount of material. When that project escalates into a whole-floor or whole-home remodel, the 30-yard is the size that absorbs it without a second trip. For a single room or a routine garage cleanout, a smaller container is almost always the better fit. The 30-yard shines when capacity, not budget, is the thing that would otherwise cost you a second haul.
Placing a big box on Fairwood’s lots and streets
A 30-yard is a big box on a long frame, and the driver needs a longer, clearer run-up than the smaller sizes to back the trailer in straight. That is worth thinking through in Fairwood, because the community was laid out with sidewalk-lined streets and a lot of cul-de-sac, wooded, and corner homesites, with about eight miles of trailways winding through dense forest. Cul-de-sac and tree-lined lots can mean tighter street frontage and a driveway hemmed by mature trees, so where the truck approaches matters.
On the single-family side, those quarter-acre lots usually give us a real driveway to stage on, which is the plan we prefer for a box this size. The townhomes are the tighter case — short, shared, or narrow driveways mean the container often has to fit a single-width pad or an HOA-approved common area rather than a wide suburban apron. Either way, tell us the lot type and the approach when you book — a corner, a cul-de-sac bulb, a shared curb cut, or low branches over the drive — and we will plan the drop around it the first time.
Permits and the real Fairwood gatekeeper: your HOA
Placement also decides whether a permit even enters the picture. The City of Bowie requires a right-of-way permit only if the dumpster sits in a city street — driveways and HOA-approved staging do not. Because Fairwood’s own driveways and approved common areas almost always give us a place to set the box off the street, a city street permit ends up being the exception rather than the rule here.
The hurdle that actually matters in Fairwood is the HOA, not the city. The neighborhood is governed by the Fairwood Community Association, with professional management and an on-site general manager, and the sub-communities — the Retreat at Fairwood and Fairwood Sanctuary among them — carry their own associations on top of that. For a container this size, sitting on a driveway or common ground for the length of a demolition or remodel, the relevant approval is architectural and staging clearance from your association. A quick word with them before the drop — confirming where the box can sit and for how long — keeps everything clean and avoids a covenant headache mid-project. If the public street genuinely is your only workable spot, the city’s review applies; customers are responsible for determining whether a City of Bowie permit is required and obtaining it before delivery.
Talk to the family before you book
Because we are family-owned, the people who answer the phone are the owners — not a call center reading from a script. That means you can describe your Fairwood project — a full gut job, a basement-to-bare-concrete tear-out, a contractor build-out, a bulk haul, or a multi-unit townhome turnover — and get a straight answer on whether the 30-yard is the right size, what it will cost for your material, how we will route the truck through the cul-de-sacs and tree-lined drives, and how to square the drop with your HOA.
If you have a big job in Fairwood and a smaller bin would only mean a second haul, call JP Roll-Off Service at (301) 252-3586. We will get a 30-yard scheduled, dispatched in the morning, and on your site about 25 minutes later.
