Specs

More capacity. Same easy drop.

  • Dimensions: 14 ft long · 8 ft wide · 4 ft tall
  • Capacity: ~4.5 pickup truck loads
  • Weight allowance: 1.5 tons (3,000 lb) included
  • Driveway footprint: Slightly longer than a 10-yard

If you're doing a kitchen or bath all the way to the studs, or pulling a 20-square roof, the 15-yard gives you more room before you reach the 1.5-ton allowance. Go over and excess weight is billed at $105 per additional ton.

15-Yard Guide

Everything you need to know about a 15-yard dumpster.

What is a 15-yard roll-off dumpster?

The 15-yard is our middle-ground container — bigger than a 10-yard but still residential-friendly. Its dimensions are roughly 14 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 4 feet tall, with an open top and a back swing-door for walk-in loading. By volume, fifteen cubic yards holds about 4.5 full-size pickup truck loads of debris.

Most homeowners pick the 15 when they're between a 10 and a 20 — when the project is bigger than a single room but they don't need the full 20-yard footprint. It's also our most-requested size for jobs with heavier debris, because the extra capacity gives breathing room before the weight limit gets tight.

Common 15-yard projects in the DMV

After hundreds of 15-yard drops across Prince George's County, Montgomery County, and northern DC, these are the projects we see again and again:

  • Kitchen remodels. Down-to-studs kitchen demo — cabinets, countertops, appliances, drywall, flooring. A 15 is the right size for a single kitchen; a galley kitchen might fit a 10, but anything bigger goes here.
  • Roofing tear-offs (small to mid-size). Up to roughly 20 squares of asphalt shingles. Shingles fill weight before volume, which is why we recommend the 15 over the 10 for roof jobs even when the volume looks smaller.
  • Two-bath gut renovations. Two full bathrooms — tile, tub, vanity, drywall, fixtures — fit comfortably with room for the related plumbing and framing demo.
  • Basement cleanouts and conversions. A heavily-stored basement plus old furniture, carpet, paneling, and built-ins. Basements accumulate volume faster than people expect.
  • Mid-size yard waste hauls. Multiple trees taken down, large brush clearing, big landscape overhauls. Yard waste is bulky and a 15-yard gives you elbow room.

How much weight can a 15-yard hold?

Every 15-yard rental includes a 1.5-ton (3,000 lb) tonnage allowance, along with delivery, pickup, and a 14-day rental. Pricing is per material — priced to your material, so call or request a free quote. Go over the allowance and excess weight is billed at $105 per additional ton. That's why the 15 is often the smarter choice for heavier debris even when you don't need the extra volume.

Materials that hit the weight first: asphalt shingles, concrete, brick, dirt, plaster lath, and tile set on concrete board. Materials that hit the volume first: cabinets, framing, drywall, mattresses, furniture, yard waste. If your project is mixed, you're usually fine. If it's mostly heavy debris, ask us — we may suggest a heavy-debris quote on a different line.

Where will the 15-yard fit on my property?

The 15-yard is still a residential-driveway container — it just needs a bit more length than the 10. Placement options:

  • Driveway, parallel to the house. Most common. The 14-ft length usually fits in a standard residential driveway with a foot or two to spare.
  • Two-car driveway, side-by-side. Leaves room for one car in the second spot. Most clients prefer this configuration.
  • Side yard or back alley. Possible if the truck can swing in — send us a photo when you book.
  • Public street (with permit). When your driveway can't fit a 15 or is being demoed, a temporary right-of-way permit handles it. We'll point you to the right office.
Allowed Materials

What can — and can't — go in your 15-yard.

Most residential and construction debris is welcome. Heavy materials are allowed but priced separately, and a short hazardous list never goes in any roll-off.

Household items

Furniture, mattresses, appliances (no freon), boxes, books, clothes, kitchenware. The everyday cleanout list.

Construction debris

Drywall, lumber, framing, flooring, tile, cabinets, doors, windows. The bread and butter of a 15-yard.

Roofing materials

Asphalt shingles, underlayment, flashing, plywood decking, nails. Up to ~20 squares fits inside tonnage.

Heavy debris (priced separately)

Concrete, dirt, brick, asphalt. Allowed but quoted on a different line because weight hits before volume.

Never allowed

No wet paint, oils, fuels, batteries, tires, asbestos, propane tanks, freon-containing appliances, or medical waste.

15-Yard FAQ

Quick answers about the 15-yard.

How much does a 15-yard dumpster cost in the DMV?
Our 15-yard is priced to your material — call or request a free quote for construction debris and other materials at residential addresses in our core service area. The price includes delivery, pickup, a 14-day rental, and a 1.5-ton tonnage allowance. Extra days are $5/day, and excess weight over the allowance is billed at $105 per additional ton.
Will a 15-yard fit in my driveway?
In most residential driveways, yes. The footprint is 14 ft × 8 ft — a bit longer than a midsize sedan. We protect every drop with 2×10 boards under the rails.
Is a 15-yard worth the upgrade from a 10?
Often, yes — especially for heavier debris. You get 50% more volume and 50% more weight allowance for a modest step up in price. If your project includes shingles, tile, or any heavy material, the 15 is the smarter pick.
Can I put a full roof tear-off in a 15-yard?
Up to roughly 20 squares of asphalt shingles fits inside the 1.5-ton allowance. For bigger roofs, move up to a 20-yard or ask about our heavy-debris quote.
How fast can you deliver?
Next business day in our core area (Beltsville, Greenbelt, College Park, Laurel, Hyattsville, Bowie, and surrounding ZIPs). Same-day may be available depending on location and schedule — call to check.
